Vivian is a PhD student (soon to be postdoc) in the lab of Dr. Joseph Jez, studying the molecular mechanisms behind the biosynthesis of glucosinolates, which are important secondary metabolites dedicated to plant defense in Brassica plants. She received a BA in Biochemistry and Russian Literature from the University of Pennsylvania. She has experience writing manuscripts and review articles, as well as editing chapters in scientific encyclopedias and editing student manuscripts as a science writing instructor.
