They received their BS from the University of Arizona, majoring in both Plant Sciences and Literacy, Learning, and Leadership (with a focus on community education). They have research experience in educational psychology, higher education, plant sciences, and microbiology. They are currently a member of Dr. Petra Levin’s lab, where they are using CRISPR interference technology and classical genetics to dissect the contribution of lipopolysaccharide – a target of last-resort antibiotics – to gram-negative bacterial growth and physiology. Beyond research, Ryan is passionate about mentorship and science communication, and they are looking forward to a career that combines these passions.
